Each device contains a unique factory-lasered 64-bit ROM registration number guaranteeing unique identification and absolute traceability. Communication with the device follows the standard Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire protocol which allows for multiple devices to reside on a common 1-Wire bus and to be operated independently. Applications:
DS2406 Dual Addressable Switch Plus 1 Kbit MemoryFeatures:
The DS2406 Dual Addressable Switch Plus 1 Kbit Memory is a sensor/actuator chip for control applications. Its two voltage sensors and two output transistors can be dynamically configured for operation as one sensor and one switch, two sensors, or two switches. Both voltage sensors are designed to capture a one-shot, short pulse (such as one generated by a piezo-sensor or momentary contact closure) and set a flag. Devices that have flags set can be singulated under software control providing a quick way to monitor for status changes in a large sensor network. The flexibility of the DS2406 is enhanced by 1024 bits of user-programmable and write-protectable EPROM memory. This memory's data can be used to describe a physical location, identify the controlled equipment, calibrate the sensor, or reference the actuator to a specific sensor. This allows the bus master to know the exact name and location of a device without referencing a central database. Because it is dual-channel, the DS2406 can drive bi-directional opto-isolators. One channel lights the LED while the other senses the response. This feature is used to build electrically safe opto-isolated interfaces to control high-power devices such as electric motors, heating or air conditioning systems. Applications:

The DS2409 MicroLAN Coupler is an essential component to build and control 1-Wire networks with multi-level branching. In contrast to approaches that switch the ground line, the coupler maintains a common ground level for the whole network and keeps the inactive segments powered. This simplifies supplying central or local power for additional circuitry and prevents loss of status of parasitically powered devices. Both the main and the auxiliary 1-Wire output are supported by a "smart-on" command which generates a reset/presence sequence on the selected output before the electronic switch connects it to the active section of the network. This enables the host computer to send a ROM function command to the devices on the just activated segment with all other devices in the network remaining deselected, speeding up the analysis of topology and population of the network. The coupler also supports the bus master in detecting arrivals on the inactive segments of the network by responding to the conditional search command. The control output can be used to optically signal the on/off state of a branch by means of an LED or, together with the auxiliary output, for handshaking in dual-master applications. The network size can be maximized by using a DS2480B Serial 1-Wire Line Driver at the host computer's serial interface. The DS2480B compensates for the rising ground level caused by the non-zero on-resistance of couplers in multi-level networks. Applications:

Related Information: Automatic Information application notes, technical briefs and articles, standards, and related articles DS2423 1-Wire RAM with CountersFeatures:
The DS2423 1-Wire RAM with Counters is a fully static, read/write memory for battery operation organized as sixteen pages of 256 bits each. In addition, the device has four counters, two of them with external trigger inputs. Each of the counters is associated with a memory page. A counter without external trigger input increments each time data is written to the page it is associated with (Write Cycle Counter). The counters triggered by inputs A and B, respectively, increment with every low-going pulse on their input. All counters are read-only. They are automatically cleared to zero when the battery is connected. The battery-backed memory offers a simple solution to storing and retrieving information pertaining to the equipment where the DS2423 is installed. A 64-bit registration number is factory lasered into each DS2423 to provide a guaranteed unique identity which allows for absolute traceability and acts as node address if multiple DS2423 are connected in a 1-Wire Network. Data is transferred serially via the 1-Wire protocol which requires only a single data line and a ground return. The DS2423 can store encrypted data. The unique registration number and the page write cycle counter(s) prevent unauthorized manipulation of data stored in a page with a write cycle counter associated. Applications:

The DS2430A and DS2433 1-Wire EEPROM are used to uniquely identify the product in which it is used as well as store relevant product information including critical parameters, calibration constants, board configurations or manufacturing information. EEPROM is organized into 256 bit page(s) and operates with a transfer protocol that includes scratchpad, strict read/write protocols, and 16-bit CRC (DS2433 only) to ensure data integrity during transfers. Communication with the device follows the standard Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire protocol which allows for multiple devices to reside on a common 1-Wire bus and to be operated independently. Power for reading and writing is derived from the 1-Wire bus with no need for an external power source. Applications:
DS2450 1-Wire Quad A/D ConverterFeatures:
The DS2450 1-Wire Quad A/D Converter is a successive-approximation analog-to-digital converter with a 4-to-1 analog multiplexer. Channels not used as analog input can serve as digital open-drain output. Individual threshold registers and alarm flags for each channel indicate if the voltage measured was too high or too low without requiring the bus master to do the comparison. The device gets power either through the 1-Wire bus or through its VDD pin. An onchip CRC16 generator protects the communication against transmission errors. Applications:

With a wide 0V-11V working voltage range for the potentiometer terminals, the DS2890 is ideal for a broad range of industrial and control applications. Potentiometer terminal voltage is independent of device supply voltage as well as the voltage applied to the other potentiometer terminals. Communication with the DS2890 follows the standard Dallas Semiconductor 1-Wire protocol and can be accomplished with minimal hardware such as a single port pin of a microcontroller. Multiple DS2890 devices can reside on a common 1-Wire bus and be operated independently of each other. Each DS2890 has its own unalterable 64-bit ROM registration number that is factory lasered into the chip. The registration number guarantees unique identification for absolute traceability and is used to address the device in a multi-drop 1-Wire Network environment. Applications
DS9502/DS9503 ESD Protection DiodesFeatures:
The DS9502 and DS9503 ESD Protection Diodes are designed as ESD protection devices for 1-Wire interfaces. Incorporating one of these devices into the 1-Wire interface design will produce an ESD protection level of >25kV. The DS9503 incorporates two 5-ohm isolation resistors on chip for additional protection in the case of an ESD event. During normal operation the devices behave like 7.5V Zener diodes. When the applied voltage exceeds the trigger voltage, the I/V characteristic of the devices will "snapback" allowing the same or higher amount of current to flow, but at a significantly lower voltage. As long as a minimum current or voltage is maintained, the device will stay in the "snapback mode." If the voltage or the current falls below the holding voltage or holding current, the device will abruptly change to its normal mode and conduct only a small leakage current. Applications
